Our Mission

At Waymark, we believe that anyone can be a storyteller.

A “waymark” serves as a guide to travelers, a sign in a series marking a path. We at Waymark want to be the sign that demonstrates the direction of student art in North America. Through the idea of “waymark,” we hope to:

  • Serve as a guide to rising creators,
  • Model exemplary storytelling,
  • Encourage literary growth and exploration, and
  • Celebrate the success of our writers.

Waymark seeks to mark the lives of readers and writers alike through our commitment to publishing fiction, literary nonfiction, poetry, and art of the heart and spirit. Our publication is run by undergraduate students and welcomes online submissions from any undergraduate artist in North America and any affiliated territories. We especially encourage writers from minority communities to submit their works, as well as first generation college students.

Waymark refuses to publish any work that glorifies violence, promotes hate speech to any community, depicts situations of sexual assault and harassment, violates existing intellectual property laws, or prioritizes graphic or explicit details over story.

Waymark is dedicated to serving our collegiate community with events that promote community and growth. If you are a Kennesaw State University student looking to get involved with Waymark, check out our “KSU Students” page in the “About” dropdown menu.
