I might attempt the impossible, soar
like a cannonball through the void,
or poke you in the eye and not cry
at my inadvertent mistake.
I could doubt the improbable
as you would psychobabble—
issued from the mouth of some
junkie at Market and Post.
With senses by caveat trained
on an environment where theft
is frequently status quo
I’ll concentrate on healing.
I would offer the thief
a luscious ripe peach
should he give up his gun
and instead coddle babies.
