Es Könnte Auch Anders Sein

By: Jack Cortez

I may be good, I may be noble, but I can be violent,

My strength and weaknesses are pliant,

We share the same desire to ravish, defile, and violate each other at great length,

So, fuck intelligence, kindness, and strength!

What will you do once everyone is betrayed?

Might our empire fade?

Is emptiness your goal?

I long to dismiss my body and stay with you only as a soul,

I know I am a burden; I know I fail to put lightness to sex,

How I wish to learn lightness and see intimacy less complex!

I have this domestic fantasy, but you’d get bored,

Besides, you’re a diplomat, the foreign world you’ll have explored,

I know I came in a bulrush basket, not from Plato’s myth,

Though that’s how we know our love has exceptional pith,

The kitsch of our bond is a beautiful distraction,

With you, Paradise is less an abstraction.
