microscopically the world is ending
writhing within the clear smooth bubble, nanometers from a breath
its six little feet ballooning the surface of the sphere like a latex skin
miniscule ophelia momentarily encased
fossil in colorless amber
surrendered fish, belly up
yet it is beautiful for a glistening moment, the world outside
a hundred multicolored smears glittering in a bug’s beady compound eyes
lovely distorted abstractions
within a crystal globe that foresees no future
microscopically the world dies in quiet
a scream into a vacuum
followed by the white noise of more padding rain
