“Stranger” by Ryann Noble

This artwork “Stranger” embodies the harmonization between a boy being a stranger within himself and the beauty found within his eyes. My aim was to reflect through the beauty of the boy’s eyes how we see ourselves and the world around us. What it feels like for everything in his eyes to be pleasing, yet he is trapped, disconnected, in his own prison created by himself.
This piece was inspired by a quiet, gloomy Saturday morning in Georgia which prompted me to think of the ideas regarding this artwork. As well as the practical reality of being a stranger within yourself.

Inspired by the importance of seeking identity in who you are. Use of media includes the Canon EOS M50 Camera, overhead camera light, and a grainy black and white camera filter. My process included taking multiple shots of the boy in and out of focus to really capture the water droplets, the detailed features under and around his eyes, and the pores on his nose. To focus on the light and dark spots on the boy’s face and the surrounding area, I incorporated techniques such as lowering brightness hues and limiting light flare from behind the camera. This artwork was created in 2025, and the size of this piece is 1080×708.
